Cancel anytime. The drums of war beat amid global economic ruin. The skies, not the trenches, will decide the survivors. Rich men marshal their resources as all sides race to acquire octane aviation gasoline, an unproven, unstable witches' brew that could fuel the fastest attack aircraft.

In a brutal maze of corporate treason, personal blackmail, and imperfect heroism, a young, brilliant petroleum engineer battling the Dust Bowl in Oklahoma may hold the key. Eight years ago in Jerusalem, schoolgirl Saba Hassouneh survived the murder of her family. Sentenced to the barbaric refugee camps, Saba is freed by a legendary Bedouin freedom-fighter.

Saba has one mission: free her people. As the world's true rulers vie for dominion, two unlikely lovers collide. Their attraction is immediate, their goals opposite. The two main characters are an oil engineer from Oklahoma and a Palestinian warrior woman. The settings are mostly historically accurate from the Palestinian and Jewish forces seeking to drive England from the Palestinian territories, to the fight between Palestinians and Jews, to the collaboration of Henry Ford, Standard Oi, and other US interests with the German Nazis.

Luke Daniels does a superb job of narration. Redundant and repetitive over and over again. How many times do we get to hear the same themes and our hero and heroine getting hurt and almost dying? The puzzles are either too difficult or too easy and there is just that intangible "something" that detracts from the game. Gameplay in Traitor's Gate really doesn't appeal to me.

I'm a huge fan of Thief: The Dark Project, Metal Gear Solid, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six and other stealth-based games but the fact that all the action is entirely point-and-click driven really sabotages the overall feeling of anxiety.

This game had enormous potential as a first-person game but fell short due to the aforementioned unexciting interface. Traitor's Gate made me sit through some of the longest load times I've had in a while and involved an enormous amount of disk swapping. Someone in testing should have complained about this and suggested the programmers optimize the use of each disk.

A constant requirement to change CDs is evidence of shoddy development practices. Should you get stuck on a puzzle, you can request help via the PDA it receives e-mail and images from Headquarters.
